The Ombudsman for Children of RS in collaboration with the Gender Centre of Republic of Srpska Government, with financial support of FIGAP Program, have organized a training seminar for young advisors of the Ombudsman for Children about children's rights, at Borje from December 9. to 11.

A group of 25 young high school advisors from Foča, Vlasenica, Brod, Doboj, Šamac, Derventa, Teslić, Modriča, Bijeljina, Petrovo, Prnjavor, Gradiška, Čelinac and Banja Luka has undergone training on child's rights and gender equality.

Through four workshops young advisors have familiarized with rights, obligations and responsibilities they have in school as well as with the role of student's councils in school and the role of young advisors as a collaborative and advisory body to the Ombudsman for Children. Children have showed a high level of interest in the topics offered and the willingness to learn about children's rights and human rights in general.

Two workshops on gender equality were held by representatives of the Gender Centre of Republic of Srpska Government from which young people acquire basic knowledge in this field.

As the seminar was held regarding the International Human Rights Day young advisors have sent the messages:

We are all different but have the same rights.

We are seeking our rights but we respect the rights of others.

We have the rights but obligations as well.

As in all previous training seminars this one as well has created new friendships, new opportunities for young people to share their experiences and work together on all matters that concern them.
