The Ministry of Health and Social Protection presented today in Banja Luka the document Policy of improvement of nutrition in children under five years of age in Republic of Srpska. The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Ranko Škrbić, the Minister of Family, Youth and Sports Mrs. Nada Tešanović and UNICEF representative Florence Bauer spoke about the importance of proper nutrition from the earliest age of children emphasizing that healthy diet and physical activity of children are the best prevention of many diseases.

The document was presented by the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mrs. Amela Lolić, who pointed that the basic conditions for proper growth and development of children are well-balanced diet, nutritional deficiency prevention and control of diseases caused by improper diet. She stressed that the responsibility for healthy nutrition of children bears the family, professionals from various fields, institutions and society as a whole.

The presentation of this document was also attended by representatives of the Ombudsman for Children appreciating that it is very important to develop healthy eating habits in children from the earliest age, but that is necessary to take steps to improve the quality of nutrition of children in primary schools.

Children from kindergarten "Plavi čuperak" showed their knowledge about healthy nutrition and its importance for proper growth and development in a very funny manner and children from kindergarten "Naša djeca" performed appropriate folk dance.
