Round Table "Prevention programs are an integral part of the school curriculum" organized by Ombudsman for Children, the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports and the Pedagogical Institute was held today in Banja Luka. This Round Table was organized on the occasion of International Human Rights Day and it was attended by representatives of institutions, NGOs and professors from the university.

During discussion, when each of the participants expressed their views on this issue and welcomed the initiative that prevention programs are an integral part of the curriculum, stressed out was the importance of prevention and the need that children from their earliest age in school receive relevant information about it.

The common view is that:

- Violence prevention programs must be part of the education system,

- The program must be continuous, adjusted to the needs and age of the child and it must involve children from their earliest age,

- The program must be part of the overall activities of the school, using all the resources of the school to create an environment in which the school is a safe place for children to grow up, where nurtured is the climate of trust, mutual recognition and respect where capacities of each individual student are built, cooperation with parents and the local community is strengthened and peer education is encouraged.

- For implementation of the program it is necessary to create appropriate presumptions, that are primarily related to the need for education of employees in the education system.
